The founding story of Humraah is not a startup origin story. It is a family story. It is the story of every Muslim family that has searched and waited and hoped.
My wife Nisha is beside me as I write this.
She is a doctor. Mashallah. Educated, kind, deeply religious, from a good family. Everything a family prays for in a daughter. When it was time to find her a rishta, we were confident. How hard could it be?
Very hard. As it turns out.
We tried every platform. Paid heavy subscriptions. Spent months searching. What we found broke our hearts.
Our sister — a qualified doctor — was shown profiles that had nothing in common with who she is and what our family values. Misrepresentation. Inaccurate education claims. Families projecting a lifestyle they did not live. No accountability. No verification. No consequences.
We felt helpless. And then we felt angry. Because we knew — if this was happening to us, it was happening to thousands of Muslim families across India. Quietly. Painfully. Without anyone doing anything about it.
So one night, Nisha and I sat together and made a decision.
We spent months building Humraah. Not as a startup looking for profit. As a family that felt the pain and decided to be the solution.
Alhamdulillah — we are capable of building and sustaining this ourselves. We charge ₹499 — a nominal fee to keep it genuine and accessible. We do not charge post-Nikah. If a family feels moved to offer a hadiah out of gratitude when their Nikah happens — that is entirely their heart's choice. We will never ask. We will never follow up. We will never make it a condition.
Humraah is built for every Muslim family that deserves better. That searched and waited and hoped. That believes their son or daughter deserves a real match — not a subscription and a broken promise.

The traditional rishta aunty — the trusted community elder who knew both families, vouched for both sides, and made introductions with dignity — has disappeared from urban India.
Urbanisation happened. Families moved to apartments in Mumbai, Bangalore, and Hyderabad. The community networks collapsed. And every matrimonial app that came after tried to replace her with technology.
None of them understood what she actually provided.
